“…Daniela Leska, effortlessly, freely and gracefully (and with an extraordinary vocal power besides) captivated everyone in this beautiful but also very large hall…This is a soprano whom we surely must look out for.” – Grzegorz Machnacki
Daniela Leska was guest soprano in the gala concert “Tribute to Freedom” held in Sydney Town Hall on the 1st of June 2018 to celebrate the centenary of Poland’s reinstatement as a sovereign and independent state in 1918. Under the honorary patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Canberra, His Excellency Mr Michal Kolodziejski, this concert also commemorates the shared experiences and sacrifices made by both Poland and Australia during the World War I and as such heralds the upcoming centenary celebrations of Australian Remembrance Day on 11 November 2018. Compèred by Marta Kaczmarek (actress and poet), the concert featured the Manly-Warringah Choir and Orchestra and renowned Polish-Australian performers, including soprano Daniela Leska presenting songs in Polish composed by Chopin and Szymanowski and accompanied by Opera Australia colleague, accompanist Benjamin Burton.
